Description
I grew up in Temecula, and almost every weekend my dad and brother and I would ride from our house out through this canyon to Vail Lake dam. Most of the time it was a dried-out creek bed, which is how I recreated it here, but sometimes it turned into a rushing river with crazy water crossings. The canyon was filled with all kinds of stuff: rusty shot-up cars, figure-eight tracks, hill climbs, freeride jumps, and tons of fun trails.
This place holds a lot of great memories, so I thought it would be cool to make a track here. While it’s scaled down, the terrain itself stays true to the real location which is based off satellite data. I adjusted where the dam is slightly and scaled it up to make it more visible from the track. The creek bed has a sandy look and feel while the hills are made to look hard pack, but the track only uses soft soil for consistency. I added a sky for every weather condition, with the cloudy option being an orange sunrise. My apologies for the file size but I did my best to optimize it. A lot of the size comes from the amount of off-track objects to make the scenery look as realistic as possible.
A huge thanks to Totes McGoats for testing and feedback. My current lap times are around 2:25, but there’s definitely room for improvement.
